Spiny butterfly ray (Gymnura altavela) it’s a species of large Atlantic butterfly ray that has a spine at the base of its tail.

Habitat and distribution: Western Atlantic High Seas
Conservation status: declining

This skate glides over the bottom in the warmest areas of the Atlantic to feed on invertebrates and fish.
